British Museum : Ancestral Dedication

In solemn remembrance, Jirah Joshua leads a ceremonial procession to honor our resilience and pay tribute to our ancestors—those who were sold into transatlantic enslavement by the Benin Kingdom in exchange for manilla currency melted and cast into the Benin Bronzes. As he concludes his Benin Kingdom Museum Bronze-Making Fellowship, he unveils an original work inspired by these enduring Edo symbols, carrying with it a poem in prayer.
